SPECIAL EDUCATION
In this lesson, the students subtracted numbers less than 10. In the story, "10 Fat Turkeys," the turkeys fly or fall off of a fence. The student each had a chance to pull a turkey off of the fence. We would count how many turkeys were left. Because this was a Thanksgiving activity, all of the students wrote or were helped to write one thing they were thankful for on a feather. The feathers were put together on two thankful turkeys.
During the month of December, our classroom entered a door decorating contest. The door was to be decorated with a winter theme and the students were encouraged to help. We worked together to create a snow themed door. The students help with cutting, putting glitter on snowflakes, and stamping snowflakes on the door.
