CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Too Noisy Pro App / GoNoodle

I utilized the Too Noisy Pro app while I was student teaching at Marshall Elementary School, specifically during mathematics.  I was having a difficult time with the students talking during transitions.  The talking was taking away a significant amount of instructional time.  I found this app and knew that it was perfect.  I would turn the app on at the beginning of math class. The students could earn stars for staying quiet.  If the students earned 10 stars during the class time, I would allow the students to dance to a song from the 'GoNoodle' website.  The students would encourage one another to stay quiet during transitions.  This was an essential tool during my math class to ensure a positive classroom management strategy.

The 5 P’s of Ms. Kearns’s Classroom

1. Platinum Rule: Treat Others the Way They Want to be Treated

2. Play and Work Safely: Keep All Body Parts and Objects to Yourself

3. Patience: Wait Respectfully and Calmly for Your Turn to Speak

4. Productive: Try Your Hardest to Succeed and Remain on Task

5. Prepared: Bring All Needed Materials to Class

I chose to create the 5 P’s of Ms. Kearns’s Classroom Rules because I wanted the students to learn how to be outstanding citizens.  The platinum rule provides students with the opportunity to learn how to communicate with other citizens in an appropriate manner.  Safety is extremely important in the community in which the students live.  Students need to learn to be patient so they are not speaking over other members of their community.  Staying on task will allow students to succeed in the real world and provide a structure for good work habits.  When students acquire a job, they will need to be prepared to become a model citizen.
